John's
House.
The most recent delivery on the ledger — built through monsoon and dry season alike.
John's House is the newest residence on this ledger, delivered through an unusually demanding programme. The build crossed both monsoon and dry season — on a tropical site, two different sets of risks back-to-back. Modern Lao Homes scheduled structural work into the dry months and saved finishes for after the worst of the rains. The planning paid off.
The architectural intent: deep eaves, generous openings, strong horizontal emphasis. Materials sourced locally where possible. Joinery clean. The plan accommodates a growing family without the SUV-scaled rooms that disfigure most new build in the region.
Gallery photographs were taken on hand-off day, with the dust just settled and the planting still visibly young. Honest pictures of a house about to start its real life.
