Project 12 / 14 — Architectural Detail
Skylight
Skylight
Installation.
A precise small-scope intervention. Roof cut, flashed and sealed; daylight delivered to a previously dark interior.
The brief was simple in description and unforgiving in execution: cut a hole in a finished roof and bring daylight through, without compromising the weather seal a tropical climate demands.
Structural rafters were located before any cut. The opening was framed, flashed in continuous metal, and sealed at the upstand. The skylight unit was set, capped, and tested through a season of monsoon before sign-off.
Small-scope work shows whether a builder respects scale. The smallest interventions are the easiest to leak.
